In August 2018, the Higher Education Students’ Loans and Grants Board (HESLGB) signed an agreement with Credit Data (CD) which is a Credit Reference Bureau. The agreement entails that CD will be accessing records of all beneficiaries of student loans to use for credit reference.  

The agreement is of mutual benefit for the two institutions because the data that will be provided by HESLGB will boost the database for CD which shared such data with all lending institutions. This will further assist HESLGB in recovery of mature loans since all former beneficiaries who are yet to settle their loans will not be eligible for future loans from all lending institutions
